A fantastic course. It is very much focused around the specific equipment that is guaranteed to be what you will find on the job onboard.
From having no previous experience with Satcom and TV, to now feeling like I could do some troubleshooting and operate the systems, is great over three days. The course has given me a big confidence boost for these systems.

I think that Scott and Kamran organized this course really well. They really did think about everything. I did not expect the course would be on such a high level. I think the concept of small groups was an absolute win in my opinion. The trainer was available to take a few minutes and help one student whenever that was needed. I will highly recommend SEA to any of my colleagues when ever I am asked regarding AV/IT training.
It was a privilege to have been introduced to IP networking in the marine
environment. Kamran and Scott both have a wealth of knowledge in the
sector and are truly committed to sharing this. I was very impressed with how
the course was adapted to an online platform given the current situation and
admire the risks taken in offering this educational approach. I wish SEA all
the best for the future.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the online course and the standard of teaching was among the best I have ever received.
Thank you Scott and Kamran!
An excellent course, much more than I would expect from online training. Its not really missing the classroom experience, since with the remote connection and great cameras, we could achieve everything just like we were physically there.
Staff were very accommodating with answering "on the fly" questions about various system issues I had experienced. They appeared not to mind going into more detail to enable a greater depth of understanding. Very friendly. Good kitchen, coffee/tea making facilities and the lunch van is great! Excellent week and would highly recommend.
This was a really good course with a lot of content! The live online learning format was great as it meant being able to complete the course without the additional travel costs etc.
The access to the Crestron account is also a huge bonus. Thank you!
I signed up to the one-day course, as a complete beginner with a keen interest in how things work. Having worked in super yachts for a couple of years I understand how smoothly everything has to run, from service to Wi-Fi!
I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Scott was so patient and able to stop and answer questions along the way, as well as making time at the end to go over anything.
The course itself was laid out really well, starting right from the bottom and building up. Scott’s experience within the industry is invaluable and he was then able to develop areas that were relevant and interest to me.
I highly recommend this course for anyone onboard either looking to develop into AV/IT roles, or just to become more confident using AV/IT in front of guests.
Looking forward to my next course with SEA!
I really enjoyed this course and now feel more confident with dealing with these systems onboard. I was unsure how the online aspect would play out, but it went really well! Scott and Roland were very approachable and knowledgeable. I look forward to completing future courses with SEA, and will utilise the Crestron access given at the end of the course to further develop my knowledge and understanding.
Before attending this on-line course I was sceptical, but it was well beyond what I expected.
The questions and material are thought provoking and thus effective. I was also impressed with the technical management of this training course. I have to congratulate both Scott and Roland, the content was well thought through and was a good introduction to superyacht AV systems. Well done!
I approached SEA before joining a new yacht, with responsibilities for AV/IT onboard as ETO. This was covered by dedicated AV/IT positions in my previous roles. There were no courses running before I joined the yacht, so Scott kindly offered 1:1 tuition and we settled on 3-days online.
We covered AV, Crestron, Kaleidescape, and network systems. Some additional IT and SATCOM theory was also included. The camera system was just as good as, if not better than, being in the classroom itself. You can zoom and read the tiny text on a cable tag from the other side of the room. Practical exercises using software on the academy’s laptop is easily done via remote access. Not having been hands on with most of the equipment previously made this training invaluable to me. In practice, this has helped navigate new duties at work with greater ease.
1:1 remote training was practical and cost effective (saving on hotels and travel costs). I highly recommend Superyacht Electronics Academy to anyone needing initial or refresher training in AV, IT and SATCOM. Don't be afraid of their remote learning, it’s much better than you might expect!
The online course was definitely on the same high standard as an attendance course. I gained a lot more knowledge relevant to real life scenarios and troubleshooting.
Thank you.
I would highly recommend Superyacht Electronics Academy's AV@SEA course. They exceeded my expectations in terms of both content and training provided. At first I was sceptical about the online version, but it was just as interactive and relevant as an onsite course would have been. I'm very pleased with the result and will be back for more training!
The AV@SEA class exceeded my expectations, as mentioned in the course, with being online rather than onsite.
It is amazing what has been achieved in the training room all things considered, with a strangely ideal setup. Personally, I will always wish I could have been in class rather than online but I don’t believe it has affected my learning of the content at all. Cheers!
Any captain will do himself a huge favour to ensure his engineers attend this course with SEA. The course will quickly pay for itself. I should have done this a year ago!
A very well run course, very informative and something for all levels. I gained some new skills and knowledge, and a good refresher for certain aspects. I Would highly recommend the course and training centre to others. Many thanks!
A great course for familiarizing yourself with the most common systems found onboard. A quality facility with working real-world systems, allowing trainers to give you practical troubleshooting exercises as they provide you with knowledge from their experience in the field.
SEA are a group of professional and friendly instructors, who've taught me a great deal in such a brief amount of time. I would highly recommend this to anyone of all experience levels. This isn't just for ETOs it's for everyone.
Great course. Incredibly valuable skills and knowledge were passed. Particularly for engineers, with no ETO onboard vessel, to learn essential basics.
A great course. The small group, with two instructors, results in high quality training. The content was ideal for my position onboard, and wanting to progress. I will return for other courses you're developing in the future.
I would recommend this course to my fellow ship mates. It is very useful in yachting, other sectors and even privately. I had fun and look forward to doing more courses in the future.
Very professionally run with lots of real life scenarios that can be applied. Great answers and support ot any questions. Friendly and approachable trainers. The small class is the perfect size to learn.
This course was very informative. It has boosted my confidence level in troubleshooting AV systems. It has also taught me ways of gaining information from the AV components to relay to others for outside assistance.
An impressive amount of information related to networked AV systems was very well presented by the trainers. Highly recommended as a first step to switch to the yachting industry from commercial vessels. Thanks a lot!
I can't say enough about all the hands on and troubleshooting activities. I look forward to attending additional courses, possibly with focus on more advanced knowledge.
The level was perfect for me. I really enjoyed the course and found it extremely helpful for issues I could face on board. It gave me a good foundation knowledge of the typical equipment to build upon. All instructors were very helpful and patient.
I have found the courses to be very beneficial. The trainers' knowledge have made a complex subject much more approachable. I have no fear of troubleshooting a Crestron system anymore. The food was also excellent!
I think the course provides a great base of understanding to build confidence for marine crew working with AV systems. The material and practical examples were delivered really well. Much appreciated.
This was a great course with good, solid training material and exercises. I have already informed other crew that they should attend this class.
Superyacht Electronics Academy have really helped me, being a rookie to the industry. Having no real previous experience of VSAT, I feel confident I could tackle problems that arise in future.
I received a massive amount of valuable information, which I now need to try and retain. The useful websites, presentation material and manufacturer documentation will help for future reference. I will highly recommend this training course to others.
This was a great course! Jason has fantastic knowledge of the subject and relayed the information clearly and relevantly. Good facilities and equipment also.
Scott's hospitality and the course's intellectual value, even over such a short course, was exemplary. The knowledge I have gained will help me massively for years to come. Jason's knowledge and experience is outstanding.
This was another highly recommended course from the team at Superyacht Electronics Academy. I wish to have the opportunity to come back and attend future training courses.
The AV course consolidates a lot of useful information into 5 days' training. I found it engaging, interesting, enjoyable and completely on point for our needs as engineers on yachts.
Everything with Scott and the team is just what you need. You can tell there is no industry affiliation with any third parties, just a genuine wish to share their knowledge and teach you the real world scenarios.
A very impressive training course in terms of content, structure and instructors. I definitely enjoyed my time spent with SEA, and go away with some very good knowledge and understanding. Thank you very much.
Scott and Sjoerd, you did a great job setting up all those devices. As I am still fresh in yachting and AV systems onboard, this course helped me to understand and clarified a lot. Thanks a lot for your efforts 🙂
The SATCOM@SEA course was great, I learned a lot about VSAT and TVRO "below" and "above" deck equipment and systems. Thanks.
A lot of very valuable information was received, as well as real-life troubleshooting. The whole course was very well structured. Any questions or concerns were answered right away, which was very helpful!
I liked that the AV@SEA class had very focused content. I would definitely recommend this class for anyone that wants to learn about yacht AV systems. Full marks!
The whole course was very professional from the beginning to the end. I definitely learned a lot of useful information, which will make future troubleshooting much easier.
A good course. I feel I got the basics and now have a good understanding of IP networks, although it made me realise how much there is to learn! Jason is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor.
A very professional course for those looking to learn networking fundamentals. It is well run and is related to real life scenarios working on yachts. They take time to go over details until you understand. Its been enjoyable being on this course. Thanks!
The trainer's knowledge was excellent. The course was structured very well, also adding content dynamically that the group needed as we went along. I built up a resource of knowledge that would otherwise have taken a long time to learn elsewhere.
Really unique and helpful translation of IP networking in the marine field. I would recommend the IP@SEA class to anyone. Jason is a master in his field.
SATCOM@SEA covers a lot of very useful information provided by high quality specialists. The small group of students definitely helps. I will definitely be able to use this new information in real world situations.
A great insight into satellite communications and TV, with real world scenarios and how to fix common faults. The class is great value to truly understand the basic concepts.
